Does God Care About My Weight Loss Plateau?

I found that there are things in life that we would rather not bother God with: One should not ask God to take the calories out of the chocolate cake, right, because one can in fact choose not to eat the cake. Sure, there are other examples like these, but where do you draw the line? I think it best to just bring it all to God and let Him tell you which part is yours and which part should be left up to His almighty hands. So why not bring this dreaded weight loss plateau that has been chipping away at your soul to Him?
A verse that meant a lot to me in my struggle with "the dreaded plateau" is found in Jeremiah 33:3 "Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know."
You might be baffled by this pause in your weight loss, but God isn't. Don't panic and take another dangerous detour. The short cut to freedom is to ask God, He is eager to talk to you.
Does that mean that following a healthy eating plan, getting some exercise, staying away from diets and dangerous methods and praying will ward off a weight loss plateau forever? No, unfortunately not. Even if you are doing all the "right things" you can still hit the dreaded plateau. Part of it is your body's way to stay healthy, because too much weight loss too fast is very unhealthy and causes serious health problems.
There is good news though: The times I sharpened my CONSISTENCY with my exercise, healthy eating, and making time for God, I came out of it and started losing weight again. The other times when I caved under the pressure and turned again to diet pills, laxatives or other dangerous methods, I sank back into the dark pit of despair without losing weight anyway. It's not worth it! If there is one thing we can learn from this struggle then it is to wait patiently on our God and let Him restore our bodies in the way He knows best.
Don't get me wrong: Waiting is not always the answer. The weight loss plateau might have been caused by a physiological problem, a lack of knowledge or just plain denial. You might seriously not know that your portions are too big or that it's not okay to graze the whole day long, but most of us really knows. If the reason for your weight loss plateau lies in a lack of consistency then you probably know it. Please be assured that I am not accusing you at all. I have gone both ways: There were times when I just knew that I wasn't doing what God was asking of me, but there were also those times when I knew that I did everything I possibly could. In these times I had to learn to trust and wait.
I am going to supply you with a list of things that might contribute to your weight loss plateau, but before you start tweaking anything, keep in mind that putting a few good things in place is not the same as turning to a dangerous method. If you are suffering form an Eating Disorder then "plans" of following some extreme diet or getting a hold of diet pills might have gone through your mind already. Please don't do it, that road is a dead!
So here is a list of things to try and change if you hit a weight loss plateau. My advise is to change it one at a time, so that you will know for the future what affects your body's ability to loose weight.

CHECK FOR HIDDEN SOURCES OF SUGAR and FAT- Never just assume that something is good or healthy before you didn't look at the sugar and fat content on the label. It is very important to read labels. People genuinely still believe that any sausage is okay even though some of those have more than 20g of fat. People also assume that sweetened cereal is healthy, but some cereals has more sugar than doughnuts. CHECK!
EATING TOO LITTLE OR TOO MUCH CAN BE A PROBLEM - Tiny portions without plenty of fruit and vegetables to go with it can cause your metabolism to go into "starvation mode". You want your metabolism to speed up, not slow down. So eat enough food low in sugar and fat.
ARE YOU EATING SIX SMALL MEALS OR SNACKS A DAY - Research has shown that six small meals a day are better than 3 large meals especially when you need more energy or want to loose weight.
CUTTING SUGAR AND WHITE FLOUR - Now this is not easy, but if you have an "addiction" going surrounding white flour and sugar then you might still be sneaking it in everywhere and binge on these late at night or certain times of the day. This will sabotage your weight loss effort for sure. Important: Omiting the above substances from your diet must be done gradually, replacing refined white flour items with grainy ones as you go along and sugar with fruit or it can cause binging.
CHECK YOUR MINERAL BALANCE and POTASSIUM LEVELS - Talk to you doctor about the possibility of a mineral imbalance or a potassium shortage. There are also over the counter supplements that you can take if you suspect this to be the culprit, but first confirm this with your physician.
TRY TO EXERCISE MORE - Exercise is a very important part of weight loss and it can definitely help you get out of a weight loss plateau. However, your body might be in a rut and you might have to do different exercise not necessarily more: Spice it up, if you have always walked on the treadmill it might be time to give the stationary bike a go or to speed it up and start jogging for a few minutes a day in between walking. It is in fact always a good idea to mix up your exercise routine or have some intervals. If you're walking outside you might want to change your route every other day to include some hills or jog for short periods instead of just walking.
WEIGHTS - Adding weights can give your metabolism that kick-start it might need to get out of the weight loss plateau. Use toning machines (found at fitness centers) or invest in some inexpensive small weights you can buy at sporting goods stores. Tip: Garage sales are a great place to find some light weights.
FOOD ALLERGY - This is something you need to be tested for, but if you have been eating food that you are allergic to it could leave you feeling bloated, fatigued and irritable. All of these things will not benefit you in your weight loss plight but might in fact make you hit a weight loss plateau. Knowing which foods to avoid can help you.
BEWARE OF TOO MUCH COFFEE OR TEA - Coffee, cola & tea with caffeine stimulate release of insulin with a temporary lift in energy followed by hunger, fatigue & slower weight loss.
ALCOHOL - Alcohol stimulates insulin and can also make you hit a weight loss plateau
IT MAY BE THE MEDICINES YOU ARE TAKING - Find out from your doctor if any of the drugs that you're taking can interfere with weight loss and what you can do about it.
TOO MUCH SALT- We all know that too much salt can cause water retention which might be mistaken for excess weight. However, too much salt is also very unhealthy and causes other health problems, so why not cut the salt, even if it's not to blame for your weight loss plateau, it will benefit you.
MEDICAL PROBLEMS - It is always good to check with your doctor. Get some blood work done to make sure you don't' have a low thyroid, a vitamin or mineral deficiency or another health issue that might prevent you from losing weight.
DRINK WATER - Too little water can be to blame for your weight loss plateau. Other drinks that contain caffeine can leave you dehydrated, but enough water especially before meals can help you distinguish between food hunger and water hunger. Lots of people are actually dehydrated most of the time because they eat when their bodies are really asking for water, something that can also cause unnecessary weight gain.
EAT MORE PROTEIN : If you eat more lean protein it can curb your craving for refined sugars and carbs and indirectly improve your weight loss. Don't cut out all carbs though, always follow a healthy balanced diet which includes healthy carbs such as grainy bread, brown rice, whole wheat pasta and oatmeal. Don't fall for the temptation to fall for a dangerous method, it always backfires and in the end you are worse off.
AVOID PROCESSED FOOD - Processed foods such as sauces, granola bars, and diet snacks contain sugar, which slows down your weight loss.

In my own life I found that as soon as I gave up a lot of coffee and tea, especially with added creamer and Splenda, the weight loss plateau would finally budge. So although there are a host of different opinions when it comes to sweetener especially the most popular one at the moment, Splenda, always be sure to test it and see if there might be a link to your weight loss plateau (everybody is different) %u3000
That said, most people don't have some big problem. For most of us weight loss plateaus will come and go but only the consistent girls among us will make it. If none of the above applies to you, then you just have to keep doing what you're doing and just wait it out.
It's not easy, I know, but have a look at Galatians 6:9 "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up"
If you are suffering from and eating disorder or food addiction then not losing weight might be extra difficult for you. The enemy will try to discourage you and fill you with anxiety to make you turn back to binge eating or bulimia. Don't turn back, remember that you are on a journey, and waiting this out is part of the journey. This said, if  you are not on bulimia recovery journey or you have not taken any steps to stop your binge eating then you can have a look at my Program for Women struggling with food. There is help and healing, you don't have to live like this for the rest of your life.

What is the best weight loss program? The best weight loss program is that, which is easily affordable, rational and flexible - a well organized program, which you would like to stick with.
What is the mechanism of weight loss?In theory the mechanism of weight loss is very simple. Our overall body weight is determined by the calories we consume and the calories we burned. You will gain weight if you consume more calories than you burned. Similarly you lose weight if you consume fewer calories and burned more calories.
All is not that simple I know many people who exercising daily and eating well but still they complain that they are not losing any weight. That's why you have to follow the best weight loss program.
Types of weight loss program
Broadly speaking there are three types of bodybuilding programs.
1. Do-it-yourself weight loss programs: This type of weight loss programs are preferred by the busy people, who has very little time to go to the gym or clinic. This type of program may be done at home alone or with the help of someone. They rely heavily on the books, videos and other such materials for the guidance.
2. Non-clinical weight loss programs: This type of weight loss programs is mostly professionally managed. You have to go to their premises for daily or thrice in a week for the consultation. They also use different weight loss and diet books. They will monitor your weight loss and give you counseling regarding your eating habit and your diet.
3. Clinical weight loss programs: This type of weight loss program is conducted mostly in hospitals or other health care units. This program is recommended to very overweight people. The weight loss is monitor by the nurses, physicians, psychologist and the dietitians.
Before finding the best weight loss program, you have to decide which type of weight loss program is suitable for you. Then start researching for the weight loss program that suits you best.
Choose that weight loss program which has exercise programs built in and also gives emphasis on lifestyle changes. This will help you to lose weight and keep it off for a longer time and at the same time it will also keep you fit and healthy. It is your health. So, do some homework to find the best weight loss program for you. The best weight loss program does not hammer you to change your food habit drastically. It does not ask you to join a posh gym or hiring a personal trainer.

Quick Weight Loss - Do You Know the One Step Your Missing That's Sabotaging Your Quick Weight Loss?

Quick weight loss and long term results can be paired together. These few steps lay the foundation for long term weight loss and they are designed to build on each other. Although clients are told that these steps are vital to their short and long term weight loss success I see clients skip or dilute them all the time because they are so simple they often interpret them as tools that can be overlooked. Omitting these steps contributes to clients spinning their wheels when it comes to their quick weight loss at a time when people are struggling to do just the opposite. Inevitably they come back and implement them in to their program and start to lose weight.
I may be sharing with you things that you feel you already know or are obvious. But it is the subtle shifts in the understanding, that you already have all it takes to lose weight, that really allows you to break free from the food. So  let it sink in.Great, so lets get started!
Quick Weight Loss Comes Through Learning to Power Talk & Making It Stick
I'm sure you've experienced the wonderful feeling of accomplishment and flow that come along with being on a path of growth. That sense of knowing when everything is working for you and you trust that all is in order, that deep sense of peace and expansion after you learned something new and see it directly impact your life. There are so many incredible blessings and experiences that come along with this type of expansion and the path to weight loss has many of them. I have seen so many clients literally blossom as they start to lose weight. They experience a flow positive understanding that, "yes they can do this", and feel the positive energy that comes along with the sense of empowerment and self accomplishment that shedding their weight overcoming obstacles brings into their life.
I'm sure you have also experienced those wonderful joys where you think you've finally got it all figured out, your in control of your diet and exercise and enjoying the moments and successes and feel that life can finally be fully wonderful now. Maybe there have been times in the past where you have lost weight and experienced some of this but for reasons your not quite in touch with you put the weight back. This e-course will give you the tools not only to lay the foundation for your weight loss but it will give you the tools to experience the joy of a life time of your best body.
So what does knock us down and keep us falling off the wagon? Have you ever been in the groove of being on your diet and it seems like nothing will be able to get you to stray? You feel like, "This is it the last time I will have to lose this weight, I am done with it and watch me go. " Then a "real life" experience comes up and knocks you down, pulls you out of that nice little energized, wonderful place you were just in and stops any forward momentum cold. It can be as simple as your partner disappoints or angers you, you feel frustrated by your not so fulfilling job, your kids woke up cranky and demanding, you feel unappreciated because everyone assumes you'll just do it, you feel deprived when the office birthday cake passes your desk and everyone else is eating it but you and you get angry and say "why can they eat it and I can't" or the pants you thought were going to fit are "oh so tight"...
Whatever it is, it pulls you down into those lower emotions that we all hate to be stuck in. The emotions that can change your mood to reflect anger, sadness, unworthiness, frustration, fear and you head for the feel good comfort of food, any kind as long as it makes you forget how you are feeling at the moment! Although we all have our favorites. [Mine was always chocolate and ice cream]
And as if that's not enough in itself, here comes the illusion that keeps so many weight loss clients stuck. That one thought [whatever that may be for each of us, it could be an issue you have been dealing with for a life time or something more recent. ] that takes whatever you are going through and makes it 10 times worse and causes you to be stuck WAY longer than you need to be. You keep replaying it like a broken record in your head feeling worse and worse.
My issue was that I always felt like I had no time to myself and that I had to do everything or it wouldn't get done right. The result was that I ended up feeling overworked and very under appreciated. But it was my interpretation and my actions that caused this because I was unwilling to not be a perfectionist and give up some control. So instead of asking for help with things like laundry, dishes, vacuuming I did them all myself and then complained how I had to do everything. I felt depleted, unappreciated, disrespected and I ate my frustration. I now have an 80/20 rule and I ask for help. It doesn't have to be perfect, 80% is good enough. It was very freeing. I got unstuck, had less frustration and less turning to food for solace.
Have you ever been trapped in a bad mood but can't put your finger on why? Trapped in your lower emotions, triggered by some external event that seems to have knocked you down and you turned to food to get distracted, feel better or even just to numb yourself? Chemical reactions in our food can act like a drug and give us a feeling of being happier, but it is only temporary and there are other ways of producing those chemicals without turning to food. After these moments when we turn to food after a frustrating experience have you found yourself asking. . .
"Why can't I keep to my diet, what am I doing wrong for me to keep turning to food every time I get upset or tempted? What's wrong with me?
And here you go into a downward spiral. So now, you're not only feeling bad dealing with the actual challenge that came up, you're feeling even worse because you turned to food in the moment and now your thinking that you have screwed up yet again and that's the last thing you really wanted to do! Your thinking that it if you just had some more self control you wouldn't have to be dealing with this again and again! Your feeling pretty bad and your blaming yourself because you haven't "got it right" yet.
You end up feeling disappointed in yourself because of you keep making the same mistakes and keep falling off that diet wagon. It almost makes you want to give up and just live your life in a body your not so thrilled with and just get used to it. Subconsciously we may be thinking, "I'm not good enough. "
We use food in so many aspects of our lives. We use it to celebrate, or compensate to commiserate or any other fill in the blank emotion. Challenges, frustrating issues at work, family, finances or in your relationship or lack of relationship. A deep sense of fear as you try to start something new. There are infinite forms challenges can take. The good news is that we can make this food issue go away by understanding ourselves a little bit better and directing the self talk a whole lot more.
Quick Weight Loss & Your Moment of Frustration
How does this translate into your moment of frustration, when you turn to food or other self sabotaging behaviors like negative self talk. Well, it's how you feel, which for most of us is something we totally by pass or ignore because we don't like feeling what we feel. Many of us never really learned how to deal with our feeling of frustration, sadness, anger, rejection, low self esteem, we just learned how to stuff them down inside of us where they slowly fester. Eventually they fester just below our threshold until BAM!
They let us know they are there with that "Feeling" again. We are uncomfortable with the feeling hanging around us so we turn to food as an outlet as opposed to dealing with the issue at hand. Thus, the consumption of food! You only have two ways of feeling [of course there are different levels of it but on a basic level there are just two] Good or bad. So when you are shrinking down into those feeling after you have turned to food or had something happen that you don't like you are actually end up in a lower emotion [feeling bad]. You end up staying stuck in lower emotions for way too long.
Until eventually, you finally get inspired to try again. I used to feel like this a lot, and I remember when I first started out on my weight loss and wellness path I would feel absolutely incredible for like 2 days [OK, sometimes just 2 hours]. And then I'd crash for 3 days or a week or 2, all the while thinking why I screwed up again.
Today, I want to share with you the first step to stop this self defeating behavior. This step can help you on your journey and help you navigate your way away from these feelings and negative self talk. Life isn't stagnant and your weight loss journey is always going to take you to a higher place. The secret is how you go about embracing the journey that keeps you in the driver's seat.
We can diffuse them all. Break them down into minute pieces that are simple facts rather than emotional time bombs that make us uncomfortable or upset so we reach for the Oreo's or head first fast food drive through. You just have to knowingly use the tools that will work for you rather than against you! This is all part of the journey and you will learn how to recognize the signals and have a tool in place to diffuse the feeling and the action that the feeling causes.
In order for you to enjoy the journey and let go of your constant dance with food you have to learn to step into your best body and best self. You must see and shift what is within you to match that of your vision. My coach challenge to you is that next time you find yourself facing a challenge that threatens to knock you down and have you heading for the food, before you jump into the illusion that you have to use food to deal with it take a moment.
Stop! Look at the challenge. Don't make it all worse by criticizing yourself, or even someone else, eating up your frustration and then beating yourself up about it, again! Try the exercise below to maneuver around the situation. Remember that these tools take some practice but they work when used consistently. Don't discount them because they seem to easy. It is the simplicity that makes them great and effective.
It is so much easier to face any challenge when you have the tools to deal with it. But if you really want to break free and are tired of being stuck, embrace the idea that these tools are here to help you and that you don't have to stay stuck for long at all. When you use them enough they become second nature and infused into your lifestyle, they become effortless.
Quick Weight Loss Step One- Identify Your Triggers, Thoughts & Whys
The thoughts you have about eating don't come out of nowhere although sometimes we would like to think that. There is always a trigger that precedes your thoughts. For example, you go to make dinner and open up the pantry to get a glimpse of the potato chip bag. Seeing the bag is the potato chips is the trigger. You then have a thought like "umm these look good I'll just have a few and pop some chips" into your mouth. Triggers don't automatically lead to eating, though. Your thoughts determine whether or not your actually eat!
5 Types of Triggers to Avoid if You Want Quick Weight Loss

Biological: hunger pangs, thirst, hormonally influenced cravings or other biological process.
Environmental: seeing or smelling food, watching food on TV or a commercial involving food.
Mental: thinking about food [ for example driving home thinking it's about dinner time], imaging eating some wonderful food, having a positive memory of some wonderful food you ate or a negative memory of being hungry or deprived.
Emotional: tension, anxiety, sadness, loneliness, boredom, and other negative emotions also positive emotions, such as happiness or excitement.
Social: being offered food or because you are in a social setting like a party.
Some triggers are obvious and some [like hormonal cravings that trigger that leads to chocolate coveting] are not. Although not critical it is helpful to be able to predict what's a likely trigger that leads you to eat so you can minimize your exposure, especially in the beginning of your diet. No matter what the trigger in your going to follow the same sequence of events to resist giving in to food your not supposed to eat.
Quick Weight Loss Step Two

Learn to Power Talk: Confusion between hunger and desire to eat: Unsuccessful Dieter: I just ate dinner but I am starving! I am going to go have a snack. Successful Dieter: I'm not hungry; I'm just having a craving. I don't need those cookies.
Intolerance of hunger: Unsuccessful Dieters: I can't stand being hungry, Successful Dieter: Hunger is mildly uncomfortable, but I can tolerate it. It will go away if I focus on something else.
Desire for being over full: Unsuccessful Dieter: If I eat a lot,I'll be more satisfied and won't run the risk of getting hungry. Successful Dieter: It's OK if I get hungry. I'd rather get a little hungry and stay thinner than eat a lot and gain weight.
Self Deception: Unsuccessful Dieter: It doesn't really matter if I eat this extra food. Successful Dieter: It does matter. If I eat it, I'll strengthen the habit of giving in, which will make it more likely that I will give in again the next time. I want to strengthen my 'NO' muscle!
Eating as an emotional coping strategy: Unsuccessful Dieter: I'm upset, if I eat I will feel better. I deserve to indulge myself. Successful Dieter: If I eat, I'll have 2 problems: the one that upset me in the first place and the one that will make me feel bad about myself. I'm going to be very sorry in a little while if I give in and eat this.
What makes a trigger powerful is how we think about it. We sabotage ourselves with thoughts that serve the food literally instead of ourselves. There are some unique differences between how unsuccessful dieters think compared with those who are weight loss successes. Both experience the same types of triggers, but unsuccessful dieters have certain characteristics and ways of thinking that can lead to failure, as illustrated in the chart below. Start to open your mind to the thoughts below and be conscious of how you are thinking when it comes to your feelings and foods over the next few days. Write them down if you feel it will help.
As a weight loss coach, coaching clients that are looking for a better way to live, I encourage you to see yourself in the highest way possible and let go of all self-criticism. Embrace the truth that these challenges are a part of life and are sometimes a way of getting us to look within and shift something there. This outlook builds such a profound sense of trust in yourself and the process of life at such a deep level you have no choice but to see how strong your really are and how with the right tools you can let go of the frustrations and issues causing you to turn to food and embrace your best self.

Do Acupuncture Weight Loss Treatments Work?

Nowadays, I have noticed that many of us are looking towards alternative therapies instead of traditional solutions for improving our health. A study in 2004 showed that 35% of American adults are obese and that figure looks like it will be climbing to alarmingly dangerous levels. Acupuncture weight loss treatment is one such solution, and in this article I intend to discuss the effectiveness of acupuncture weight loss treatments.
Believed to have originated more than 2,000 years ago in China, the ancient medical practice of acupuncture is now available all over the country. In fact, a study conducted in 2002 shows that 8.2 million adults in the United States reported to have tried acupuncture, but the question is do acupuncture weight loss treatments really work, or is acupuncture weight loss treatment yet another weight loss scam?
I believe it can be easier to lose the weight with regular acupuncture weight loss treatments, but note that said it can be easier. This does not mean that it is a one-stop solution, especially since it doesn't result in direct weight loss. Also realize that you only maintain weight loss by changing your lifestyle and eating habits, and this doesn't change whether you decide to take acupuncture weight loss treatments or revert to another method for losing weight.
Acupuncture weight loss treatment works by inserting thin sterile needles in specific points on the body which release hormones know as endorphins that have a calm and relaxing, effect. It is believed this makes it easier for you to deal with stress, frustration and anxiety which trigger bingeing and overeating at meal times. These endorphins also affect the digestive system which is why its also believed that acupuncture weight loss treatment could help rebalance your metabolism.
Like I said earlier, to keep the weight that you lost off for life will require lifestyle changes and this means you must commit to being more active and eating healthier. Regardless of what some say, acupuncture weight loss treatments by themselves are not enough. You may even get basic nutritional advice from your acupuncturist, but many acupuncture weight loss treatments claim to help you lose the weight without you having to do regular exercise or change your diet.
One good point to note is that when beginning acupuncture weight loss treatment you may be offered an individualized supplement program which includes vitamins, minerals, herbal antioxidants, nutraceuticals and phytochemicals that will support your diet and balance your blood sugar levels so your body has the optimum nutrition to maintain a healthy lifestyle if you make the effort.
The reason it is said that acupuncture weight loss treatments can help you lose weight is because it is believed to boost your energy levels, and this can help you exercise, and can reduce your cravings, and improve your circulation. Whats more, even with patients who were suffering from fatigue and chronic pain for as long as 40 years, surveys showed that acupuncture helped a lot to increase energy levels.
Acupuncture weight loss treatment does have a few negative side effects. These include bruising or slight swelling and soreness. You may feel a slightly sedated feeling, and some experience a wooziness or fainting as a result of the very calming effect on the bodys energy while having an acupuncture weight loss treatment. You should always discuss possible side effects before beginning acupuncture weight loss treatments. You should also be sure that needles are either disposable or have been sterilized.
In conclusion, I always like to advise that while acupuncture weight loss treatments may help aid you in losing weight, whats most important is changing your lifestyle and eating habits. Stress, level of activity and eating habits are important factors which contribute to your weight loss according to The North American Association for the Study of Obesity and if you want the best results focus on improving these. Sure, acupuncture weight loss treatments may help you, but if you want to reach your weight loss goals it will require work on your part too.

Guidance and support
Online support groups for weight loss can offer you guidance and support on problems regarding obesity and how you can deal with them yourself. Furthermore, they can also provide you with the attention for individual questions and issues. With their help, you can learn how to analyze your concerns for yourself.
Forums
There are also online forums on weight loss that you can join in. These discussion groups can provide you with instant support, essential tips and information on weight loss, and helpful advice. You can even share the weight loss exercise tips and recipes that you know so you can also help other people.
Public or private?
Forums that offer weight loss support are either private or public. You need to become a registered member to join private forums and at time, there is a verification or validation process involved for security purposes. On the other hand, public forums may or may not require registration. If you are sensitive about your weight loss issues, it is best that you turn to a private forum instead of a public one.
Exclusive websites and forums
Online support groups also have forums included in their websites where they allow discussions regarding weight loss. Joining forums and discussion groups can give you the privilege of expressing your person view on any of the topics being discussed. You may also read feedback and comments from other members and evaluate one another's progress.

It is important to consider that some of the people within weight loss support groups and communities are also trying to lose weight. They find support among one another, and once you join them, feel free to offer your support to them, too.
It's free
Weight loss support groups and communities also serve as a good way to keep in touch with people who share the same weight gain concerns and issues with you. You are free to set up an account on these forums without spending anything on it.
The advantages
One of the advantages for joining online support groups for weight loss is that you are free to express your concerns and issues regarding your weight and there are people to help you fight those problems. Furthermore, there is a sense of anonymity as long as you do not completely reveal your identity to them.
People like you
Another advantage is the fact that all of you feel the same about dieting and weight loss. Other members of the support group know how hard it is to say no to comfort foods, and they know how guilty feelings after binging and low self-esteem can affect you. There is no better place to look for support and encouragement but from peers that are also experiencing the same ordeals as yours.

Nine Tips to Guarantee Weight Loss and Fat Loss During the Holidays

People think that fat loss is a myth during the holiday season. How can you still lose weight, when there's parties and festivities everywhere? Well, the key to weight loss in the next month is easier than you think. So keep reading and get ready to lose weight!
Here are a few handy tips and tricks to help you stay lean and lose weight while enjoying yourself until New Year's. There's no real key or trick to lose weight and experience fat loss (or weight loss):
-Don't drink your calories:
* It has been estimated that for every high-sugar drink you consume, you increase your risk of obesity by 60%! Soft drinks provide 33% of all added sugars in American diets. That makes is tons harder to lose weight and experience any fat loss for the next month. So diet soda is the way to go (although nothing is better than water!) for weight loss.
-Watch what you eat at those parties:
We all know how hard fat loss is when we have pastries, cookies and cupcakes everywhere. So if you always overindulge, don't eat them at all! How can you lose weight and lose fat during this time is your stuffing your face with thousands of empty calories? Fat loss is a result of how you train and what you eat! Can you lose weight when eating four brownies a few times a week? Weight loss will stop if you do!
-Get up and get active:
Your obesity risk increases 6-fold if you watch more than 2 hours of television each day.
Will it be impossible to lose fat if you don't get up and become active? Maybe not, but it certainly won't make weight loss easy! So you don't have to be deadlifting or running on the treadmill to lose weight, but you can't sit and start at your TV.
-A little exercise is better than none for weight loss
People think if they can't make it to the gym for 90 minutes four times a week then they aren't working out. If you can only work out for 20 minutes, you can still experience fat loss. So you can't use an excuse you don't have time. Especially when it comes to weight loss.
-Avoid processed carbs (like rice, potatoes, pasta). These carbs make it very hard to lose weight. Instead, go for veggies. You'll still get some carbs from the greens, just not as much. And it'll certainly help you with your fat loss.
You can still achieve weight loss at this time of year. To lose weight you just have to watch what you eat (and drink) and you will experience fat loss! Some final tips for weight loss:
-Keep soda out of reach. Regular soda is a butcher for weight loss.
-Drink alcohol moderately. Like soda, alcohol is empty calories which will really hinder your fat loss goals.
-Eat before a holiday party. By eating before, you won't be as hungry and it won't stunt your fat loss.
-If you have a sweet tooth, each fruits. While fruits have sugar, they won't inhibit fat loss. The vitamins and minerals in the fruits will help you lose weight.
Weight loss can happen this time of year! Don't be discouraged. A single brownie, in the long run, won't stop your weight loss. Six or seven a few times a week is another story. Then it'll be hard to lose weight!
You will be able to lose weight, get some fat loss and some weight loss by following these simple steps.

The membership is completely free and you only have to pay for the food. Furthermore, a free meal planner is also provided for you.
To try it out
Nutrisystem's weight loss program is ideal for those who do not like following complicated diets. The program even has a free trial membership that you can easily sign up for online so you can check on their weight loss information and tools. That way, you can get an idea on what the program can provide for you.

Weight Loss - How Do I Achieve It?

Lose Your Weight: Simple & Practical Ways
Eat right & on-time
Weight loss is a critical issue in today's society with obesity on the rise and people finally realizing what being overweight is doing to their bodies, their health and eventually their lifestyles.
Weight loss is good for many conditions. It is of real benefit in diabetes, high blood pressure, shortness of breath, joint problems and raised cholesterol.
Weight loss is possible with exercise and healthy meals alone, but including good-quality protein and building lean muscle mass will help you lose more quickly, helping you to keep the weight off and stay healthy.
Weight loss is virtually guaranteed if one sticks to the regulations of the diet.
Weight Loss basics: eat more calories than you use & you'll put on weight; use more than you eat and you'll lose it. Weight Loss is now a goal which can be reached really easily if we stick to a training regime, diet plan. But for some, surgery may be the only hope.
Surgical techniques have evolved over the past few decades, and most are effective, in the sense that they do typically lead to substantial weight loss.
However, all experts do agree that the best way to maintain weight loss is to follow a healthy lifestyle. Whichever approach you prefer, the key to long-term success is a slow steady weight loss. It is proven that it is important to prepare yourself mentally for your weight loss journey and the lifestyle changes you are about to undergo.
For individuals who are morbidly obese, surgery to bypass portions of the stomach and small intestine may at times be the only effective means of producing sustained and significant weight loss.
The primary factor in achieving and maintaining weight loss is a lifelong commitment to regular exercise and sensible eating habits. You will find that all levels of your life are improved with weight loss which brings you so much personal satisfaction.
If eating habits are not completely and permanently changed, the weight loss provided by a diet is not going to last long. If you suffer from, or think you may suffer from, a medical condition you should consult your doctor before starting a weight loss and / or exercise regime.
Drinking water is one of the most rapid weight loss tips that dieticians suggest to people and leads to 100+ calories extra burned a day. Every twenty soft drinks you skip from your normal intake equates to about one pound of weight loss.
Fasting: While fasting plays a major part in some diets, it is generally not recommended for safe weight loss.
Diet
Dietitians are nutritionists who work directly with clients or patients regarding their nutritional needs. Dieting reduces your caloric intake but exercising helps you burn more calories. DIET Weight loss is vital if obesity is present. Dieting is easier than you ever imagined. On a vegetarian diet, weight loss is not supposed to be a problem.
A well balanced reduced calorie diet containing moderate fat is recommended. The inclusion of different kinds of fruits into weight-loss diets is a healthy way of dealing with starvation, as well as providing the body those nutrients and vitamins it needs to function properly.
Exercise While You Diet: Weight loss is all about reducing your caloric intake while you increase the calories you burn. First of all decide how much weight you want to lose, and set yourself a realistic target, ideally with the help of your dietitian or doctor.
A diet that works for some people does not work for others. A healthy breakfast is one of the key elements of a healthy diet and consequential weight loss. Most fad diets, if followed closely, will result in weight loss-as a result of caloric restriction.
Moreover, dieters who fail to adopt better exercise and eating habits will regain the lost weight-and possibly more. As it begins, large amounts of water will be shed, leading the dieter to think that significant weight reduction is taking place.
Consult your doctor, for any health problem and before using any supplements, making dietary changes, or before making any changes in prescribed medications.
Much of the early weight loss on a very low calorie diet represents loss of muscle tissue rather than loss of fat.
As many as 85% of dieters who do not exercise on a regular basis regain their lost weight within two years. Repeatedly losing and regaining weight (yo-yo dieting) encourages the body to store fat and may increase a patient's risk of developing heart disease.
Eating three balanced, moderate-portion meals a day-with the main meal at mid-day-is a more effective way to prevent obesity than fasting or crash diets, which convince the body that there is an ongoing famine. Modern medicine has found ways to extend our lifespan through dietary restriction.
For the sake of your health, always consult your doctor before making any significant dietary, nutritional or lifestyle changes. The American Heart Association (AHA) generally recommends a diet with less than 30% fat.
Individual's lifestyle, food preferences, preparation abilities, snack habits, cravings, etc, should all be considered when developing a dietary plan. It is important that the nutrition counselor tailor the diet to the individual as opposed to adopting a "one-size-fits-all" approach. After weight loss, lower-fat diets may be the best. For most people, being overweight is a result of an insufficient amount of exercise, an inadequate lifestyle routine and a poorly balanced diet.
Most high-fiber foods are also high in water and low in calories, making them must-have diet foods. Soluble fiber can help to lower cholesterol; insoluble contains indigestible fibers that add bulk to our diets.
Some experts believe dieters have better control if they eat several mini-meals throughout the day. Exercise and a balanced diet are the key factors in fat loss and weight reduction.
Drinking water is one of the most rapid weight loss tips that dieticians suggest to people and leads to 100+ calories extra burned a day.
The ultimate tip to eventual success: regular exercise and a balanced diet. Add one cheat day to your diet to rid yourself of cravings.
Eat a healthy diet filled with lots of vegetables, fruits, and whole grain products.
Fasting: While fasting plays a major part in some diets, it is generally not recommended for safe weight loss.
Surgery
But for many in this situation, weight loss surgery is the only hope. One of the earliest forms was gastric bypass surgery. There are many forms of surgery these days and all have pros and cons.
There are still substantial risks, however, as with any major surgery. For those who believe surgery is the best option, consulting with an experienced physician is essential.
For individuals who are morbidly obese, surgery to bypass portions of the stomach and small intestine may at times be the only effective means of producing sustained and significant weight loss.
Such obesity surgery, however, can be risky, and it is performed only on patients for whom other strategies have failed and whose obesity seriously threatens health. If hiatus hernia symptoms are chronic and do not respond to diet and medication, surgery may become necessary.
Today, most surgeons elect to perform laparoscopic surgery, because it is minimally invasive and recovery time is reduced.
Burn
If you imagine yourself losing weight and burning up calories during normal daily activity, you will lose weight and body fat. It has a cellular effect on the body, causing fat cells to release their stored fat to be burned as energy. The food you eat during the day should be burned off through activity.
Exercise While You Diet: Weight loss is all about reducing your caloric intake while you increase the calories you burn. Dieting reduces your caloric intake but exercising helps you burn more calories.
We all know that to achieve a healthy weight loss we need to burn more calories than what we take in. Exercise increases the metabolic rate by creating muscle, which burns more calories than fat.
When regular exercise is combined with consistent, healthful meals, calories continue to burn at an accelerated rate for several hours. Calories burned depending on your activity level.
Not only does fat provide a sense of fullness, eating enough of a healthy fat called omega-3 fatty acids may cause your metabolism to burn fat more efficiently. If your weight remains constant, you are probably taking in the same amount of calories you burn each day.
If you're slowly gaining weight over time, it is likely that your caloric intake is greater than the number of calories you burn through your daily activities.
The number of calories we burn each day is dependent upon our basal metabolic rate (BMR), the number of calories we burn per hour simply by being alive and maintaining body functions and our level of physical activity.
Our weight also plays a role in determining how many calories we burn at rest -- more calories are required to maintain your body in its present state, the greater your body weight. Someone whose job involves heavy physical labor will naturally burn more calories in a day than someone who sits at a desk most of the day (a sedentary job).
For people who do not have jobs that require intense physical activity, exercise or increased physical activity can increase the number of calories burned.
To lose one pound, you must burn approximately 3500 calories over and above what you already burn doing daily activities. Use a calorie calculator to figure out how many calories you burn while sitting, standing, exercising, lifting weights, etc. If you're eating fewer calories than you're burning, you'll lose weight.
As it is well known when the body does not get enough calories it starts to burn the fat that was deposited in the fat tissue.
Exercise will help you burn excess calories and fat, and will also help to tone and build muscle. Retaining muscle is the key to optimal fat burning metabolism.

Fast Weight Loss -- The Healthiest Fast Weight Loss Plan

In general, fast weight loss is not healthy. The faster you lose weight, the faster you'll gain it back. Here are the top 5 reasons fast weight loss plans are not healthy...

Diet fast and lose muscle not fat.

Diet fast and lose water not fat.

Diet fast and cause diet shock. What is diet shock?

Diet fast and make no lifestyle changes.

Diet fast and fail at long term weight loss.
Fast weight loss impacts your dieting efforts in so many negative ways, it's hard to imagine how any fast dieting attempts could produce healthy results.
The only thing I can think of is to use a lower goal for your weight loss. At a 5% weight reduction, your health improves, diet shock is minimized, and it's fast.
So, if planned properly, you can lose weight fast, in shorter time periods focusing on 5% reductions in total body weight.
At first, you will lose mostly muscle and water. But as you progress through each period, more and more fat will burn and less muscle. The way I see it, no matter how many fast weight loss warnings we write about, many of you will try the next one that hits the market. Instead of fighting, I want to work with you and provide you the healthiest yet fastest way to lose weight.
The Healthiest Fast Weight Loss Plan
Slow and consistent, a healthy weight loss plan delivers small successes everyday, building momentum along the way, peaking at the point in time when you reach you're goal. This is key to dieting success.
Most dieters do the opposite...they experience fast weight loss early, their momentum peaks mid-way, and by the end of the diet, they are completely deflated. With no energy left to carry them into the next stage of weight loss -- weight gain prevention -- most dieters give up at this point.
My fast weight loss plan avoids the deflation and lack of motivation at the end of the diet because it evenly spreads the weight loss over 6 weeks. When do most dieters lose the most weight? Weeks 1-3. On my plan? Weeks 2-5.
No, these results are not from a good rigorous clinical study. Instead, they are my own observation of several patients I follow in Dallas.
Healthy Fast Weight Loss Steps

Week One, Part One -- drink a protein shake supplement everyday. Do not change anything else. Drink a protein shake that's a 50:50 mix of whey to casein proteins. The best time to drink the shake depends on your physical activities.

Since most bodybuilders know what to do, I suggest for the rest of us, a protein shake between breakfast and lunch or between lunch and dinner. The time you choose depends on when you have the longest period of fasting. For me, it's between lunch and dinner, so my shake comes around 3pm.

Week One, Part Two -- Start an exercise program, with the first week involving nothing but stretching major muscle groups. Stretching increases the tonal stimulation to muscles (tone) causing them to burn more calories at rest. Plus it protects against injuries. The second week start some form of low impact aerobics...walking! Walk for 40 minutes everyday.

Week Two -- Start dieting by replacing 1/2 of a meal with the same protein shake from last week. Do this for 1 week.

Week Three -- Replace one whole meal with a protein shake. Change the mixture of the shake to 60% whey and 40% casein proteins. For most people, this comes out to about a 500 calorie reduction.

Week Four -- Reduce caloric intake by another 250 calories. I suggest adding a second protein shake, made up of the same 60:40 mix and use it to replace 1/2 of a another meal.

Record the amount of weight you're losing. Never let it reach a rate of more than 4 pounds per week (that's double what I normally recommend).

Week Five -- Repeat week four.

Week Six -- Add back the last 250 calories you dropped and stop drinking the second shake.

End Result -- 12 to 18 pounds of average weight loss. The exact amount depends on many factors including exercise.
Fast Weight Loss Summary
Don't do it. Fast weight loss inevitably will lead to future weight gain. Just don't do it. But, if you do, at least follow my steps, the healthiest steps to fast weight loss.

The Weight Watcher's Guide to Point System Weight Loss - A Review

With so many diets available, Weight Watchers is able to develop a system that supports their members and it goes by the name of Point System weight loss. Most people find the Point System weight loss very effective in giving them support and encouragement during their difficult journey to lose weight, which contributed to more attention and support from the patrons of Weight Watchers.
From Weight Watchers
Jean Nidetch founded Weight Watchers in the 60's. The company started out as a discussion group on the best methods for losing weight. Further developments led the company to offer different varieties of services and products for dieting to assist in weight loss and weight maintenance up to the present day.
Point system
It is also Weight Watchers who came up with the Point System weight loss formula to aid their participants in their battle against weight gain and obesity. The entire program is based on this system that was created by the company based on different factors including the fat content of food, the amount of food that is being served, the nutritional content of the food, its amount of carbohydrates, and more.
What participants do
Their supporters believe that this system is what gave way to the success of Weight Watchers. The participants of the Point System weight loss get a particular number of points everyday while they are creating their own diet that is based on the company's calculator. They also have a diary where they are keeping a record of points coming from the foods that they are eating.
The numbers
The Point System weight loss works by assigning particular points on different types of foods. For example, a chocolate shake has 8.5 points while the Big Mac from McDonald's has 14 points. The members are able to determine the number of points from each food from their calculator that is provided to them by Weight Watchers.
The formula
The new members of Weight Watchers are given the formula to assist them in calculating the points of the foods that they are going to eat. To be able to determine the number of points on the food, you need to get the following data: the number of calories, the amount of fat (in grams), and the amount of dietary fiber (in grams). The result of the equation is always an integer, and the fractional values are always rounded off to the closest point.
The use of nutritional labels
You can acquire the necessary data to be able to compute the formula coming from the nutritional labels of the foods that you are eating. However, if a nutritional label is not available (i.e. you are dining at a fast food or at a restaurant), there is a handy paperback book that can be bought where you can see a list of different foods available in those restaurants, even the generic ones.
An effective tool for weight loss
The Weight Watchers Point System weight loss has proven itself to be a very effective tool for members throughout the years. However, for those living busy lives who do not have time to calculate everything that they are eating, Weight Watchers provides them with other eating programs called "The Flex Plan" and "The Core Plan". The first one still utilizes the Point System weight loss while the latter is not requiring you to calculate for points.
Eat anything you want
Those who are showing continuing support to the Weight Watcher Point System weight loss are rewarded with results based on the claims of the program. Furthermore, there are no food restrictions, which means that you can eat anything you want, including fast food. However, your personal choices for food and your commitment to weight loss contribute to the success of the entire program.
Make the right choices
The Point System is not free, but the participants of the program believe that the end results are worth the cost of the entire program. The program provides different kinds of support systems for their members to ensure that they are making the right choices that can aid them in successful weight loss. Meetings provide more encouragement, support, and camaraderie, as well as ideas for recipes.
Gradual yet healthy weight loss
Just like any other weight loss program claiming to be effective for long-term weight loss, the Weight Watchers Point System cannot provide you with any results overnight. Commitment and discipline is needed in your part, since it is also designed to last for as long as you live to maintain your weight. All you need to do is to follow the point system depending on your weight, size, the amount of your regular physical activity, and your age.

10 Effective Weight Loss Tips For a Permanent Weight Loss

For most people, weight loss is just a temporary event of losing weight and these individuals will pile on the weight immediately after a brief success. They are considered unsuccessful because they lack the information and the knowledge of a permanent weight loss. The good news is, studies have revealed many valuable tips which can help you lose weight permanently. This article will present to you the 10 best tips that you can use to achieve the body that you have been dreaming about.
1: Exercise
Exercise is the most important element for a successful permanent weight loss and for you to maintain your weight. For exercise to be effective, one must exercise for duration of a minimum of 30 minute per session, 5 times a week. In a recent study, if you exercise for 10 minute, 3 times a day is as good as one 30 minute session. With this in mind, there is no reason to give yourself the "no time for exercise" excuse. Try walking around the neighborhood with your spouse everyday or join an aerobics class at your local gym. Once you start exercising, you will feel more energetic and less stressful and ultimately, you will become "addicted" to exercise
2: Weight training
Weight training is beneficial to weight loss in a slightly different manner to exercise. When you do more weight training, you will gain more muscle tissue and you will burn more calories. Fat is not an active tissue compared to muscle. For muscle self maintenance, it will "burn" a significant amount of calories everyday. While jogging can help shed a significant amount of calories, muscles will help you increase your metabolism even when you are resting.
3: Keep a food diary
Keeping a food diary is extremely useful in weight loss. Record down what you have eaten everyday and how much, how hungry you are prior to eating, and how do you feel emotionally at the time. A food diary can help you identify emotions and behaviors that will make you over-eat and it will help you be aware of your food portion sizes. Read through your food diary frequently and try to make your meals healthier. A food diary will help you be more focused and committed to your weight loss goals.
4: Be healthy
A successful long term weight loss is when you are motivated to be healthier and not just wanting to be thin. Select the foods that will help become healthier. Use The Food Pyramid and select the amount and type of food that you should eat everyday to give your body the necessary nutrients for you to be healthy
5: Find out why you overeat
When you are stressed at work, bored, lonely, angry or even depressed, you tend to overeat. For a successful long tern weight loss, you have to learn to deal with emotions without eating. Studies showed that individuals who can control their emotions without eating is more successful in long term weight loss than those who simply diet and exercise but could not control their emotions. "Emotional eaters" and Chronic over-eaters can seek help from a psychologist or licensed counselor in your area
6: Join a Weight loss support group
Receiving support and encouragement from other dieters out there is a bug key to a successful long term weight loss. Keep a lookout for weight loss programs and resources in your areas or you can also check with your local hospital to see if they have dieting programs or groups that you can join
7: Weight loss and portion control
Restaurants nowadays offer "super-size" meals and huge meal portions. Be careful of how much you eat in one meal. You can just ask for a smaller portion of your favorite meal or you can eat half of your food in the restaurant and bring home the rest. When you feel full, stop eating and don't try to finish your big sized portion meal and keep eating until you are stuffed.
8: Lose weight slowly
Don't start to celebrate yet if you lose 15 pounds in two weeks because when you lose weight quickly, chances are, you tend to lose muscle and water instead of fat. Muscle tissues are important in keeping our metabolism high. When you lose muscle, the amount of calories that you will lose everyday will also decrease. A successful weight loss is when you lose your weight slowly. Go for a weight loss of no more than 2-3 pounds per week. One pound of weight equals to 3500 calories. Shedding 250 calories a day through exercise and eliminating 250 calories a day from your daily meals, you can lose at least one pound of mostly fat per week.
9: Eating slowly
Thin people usually take a very long time to finish their food or they don't even finish their meals at all. You can shed off those extra pounds by eating slowly because it takes about 20 minutes for your brain to receive the signal from your stomach that you are full. Those who eat quickly will tend to overeat and the number of calories that you consume can vary significantly depending on how fast you eat. So eat slowly and take your time to enjoy every bit of your food.
10: Weight loss through eating less fat - but do it wisely
Decreasing the intake of high fat foods in your meals can assist you in your weight loss goals. It's because there are 9 calories per gram in fats and carbohydrates or proteins contain only 4 calories per gram.Do take note that limiting fats is not just about eating more fat-free foods. Please take note that there are calories in fat-free foods too and sometime fat-free foods have the same number of calories as the "fatty" foods. In conclusion, you will gain weight if you consume more calories than your body uses. You will definitely lose weight if you eat less fat but you will not lose weight if you replace those fats with large amounts of fat-free foods.
